En route... Still! :)

So, we left Canada at 3:30pm on Sep.23, three days after our AMAZING wedding!

Still in transit, we are waiting for our last flight to Paradise - Mauritius, here we come! It is a 4-hr flight from Johannesburg (our shortest of three flights, as Calgary to Amsterdam was 9-hours, and Amsterdam to JoBerg was 11-hours).

It is good to be "home." Everyone knows how much I love Africa, where already the people have stolen our hearts with their kindness and smiles again.

By 8pm we will be on the tiny island, surrounded by beautiful beaches, with adventures awaiting...

Love you all!

Day 13, in sunny Brazil

A lazy day morning today, sitting on the balcony in the sun, listening to the waves below.

Later on in the afternoon we walked along the boardwalk, likely through some shady areas, to Dragao do Mar, a cultural type square with restaurants, planetarium, shops, etc. Unfortunately most things were closed, so we headed for the Central Market, which we could see over the tops of other buildings.

A bit of shopping - more of the same stuff, really.

Then went for happy hour back around the Dragao do Mar area. There still wasn't anything exciting happening, so we headed back to our area to at least be near the action on the boardwalk.

As we settled in for supper, we didn't realize just HOW slow the service would be... So slow, in fact, that Mom even drank some of my beer!

But we were entertained, at least for a while, by people selling stuff. Like these head-scratchers... Which originally creeped Mom out, until a persistent young man suck one in her hair and then she was in heaven!

Anyone who knows Debbie knows how disgusted she is at dirt and dirty things... But below is proof that she loves ice more, as the ice fell and she picked it up and wiped it off with a napkin!!! Huhhh?!?!

I wound up getting my meal, but we waited a long time, close to an hour and half, for Moms. When it still hadn't come we handed the waiter 40R$ ($20) and went next door, where the service was kind and much better.

They really don't speak any English here, and make no attempt to understand you.

March 11, Day 12, Brazil

Not an overly exciting day today, as we arrived to our condo, The Landscape, at 1:30am.

We did, however, awake to this gorgeous view!

And on the other side, this (not-so-gorgeous, but still interesting) view:

There is such a mix of old and new here, as the city tries to redevelop this area.

Hanna, a lady Mom is investing through, picked us up for lunch and we went to a great buffet, called "self-serve" here, where you dish up and then they weigh your plate. So the price is based on how much (by weight, price per kilo) you eat, no one price for all-you-can-eat (though they do have that style, as well). I ate 0.600kg!

Then Hanna took us to see the condo building Mom invested in... Very exciting! A lot of construction going on.

Tonight we went through half of the little night market on the beach. It's so warm here, I love it!
