Peru, Day 2 "All Rush, No Action"

A three a.m. bedtime made 4:30am come extra early this morning, especially as we got up early to enjoy breakfast before hotel departure only to find out breakfast starts at six (contrary to information received beforehand)... Normally this is where I'd insert a "TIA," but this not Africa, Lol.

A disappointing McDonalds breakfast at the airport - yes McDonalds, as the only other restaurant serving breakfast was Dunkin Donuts, which hardly counts as breakfast - brought us to our arrival gate 45 minutes early, and in plenty of time to find out our flight would be delayed due to bad weather in Pucallpa.

This is not-so-good news, as our next three days relies on getting to Iquitos on time. Que sera...

Well, after delays for five hours, we finally boarded our plane to Iquitos.  Unfortunately, by the time we got to the Amazon lodge office, it was 4:00pm, and they said it was too late for them to take us up the river to the lodge.  So they put us up next door at a hostel, and said to come back at 9:00am.  Really disappointed that we are missing out on time at the lodge, but not too much we can do about it, either.  Hopefully the next two days will make up for it :)  We walked up to the square and had a bite for supper, watching and listening to all the hassle bustle of the people's daily grind.  They have rickshaw-type things here for transport (as well as regular cars)  which we'll have to experience sometime.

On a good note, we tried our first Inca Kola - call it the airlines "compensation" for half a days wasted time because planes can't fly through clouds... .??  Tastes like a cream soda crossed a red bull...? Lol.
